GREENWICH, Conn. (Nov. 13) - Michael Biondi, a driving force in making the annual New York Ski and Snowboarding Ball a million-dollar fundraiser for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation, has died at his home. He was 50.

Bergoust, Lewis Highlight Hall of Fame 19/10/2007 7:21
ISHPEMING, Mich. (Oct. 19) - Olympic champion Eric Bergoust and downhill World Championship medalist Doug Lewis highlight the 2007 selections to the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. The Hall also selected nordic combined Olympian Tom Jacobs and its first snowboarding members, Jake and Donna Burton Carpenter. Ski industry pioneers Everett Kircher, who founded Boyne USA Resorts, and Mitch Cubberly of Cubco bindings, rounded out the selections.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. (Oct. 10) - Avis Rent A Car System, LLC announced today that it has been named the official rental car company of the U. S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), the national governing body for Olympic skiing and snowboarding. The alliance will benefit the national teams, the more than 30,000 member athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers as well as the 100,000-plus parents, supporters and devotees of the sport.

PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 7) - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) has named new head physicians for the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding, overseeing medical care of national development and elite athletes. Dr. Andreas Sauerbrey of Steamboat Springs, CO, was named freestyle team head physician while Dr. Thomas Hackett of Vail, CO, oversees medical services for U.S. Snowboarding, according to USSA Medical Director Richard Quincy.

PARK CITY, Utah (Aug. 22) - The U.S. Ski Team has named noted action sports safety equipment provider Dainese as an official supplier. Dainese will provide helmets, goggles and body protective gear, according to Associate Athletic Director Dale Schoon.

PARK CITY, Utah (Aug. 21) - Richard Quincy has been named medical director for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, President and CEO Bill Marolt announced. As medical director, he will oversee the health and well-being of more than 200 national team athletes plus medical programs supporting their needs, including supervision of USSA's unique physicians' pool.

PARK CITY, Utah (July 18) - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association broke ground Wednesday on its $22.5 million Center of Excellence - "the most significant event in our 102-year history,†according to USSA President and CEO Bill Marolt. Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. said the national training and education center will be "unlike anything else in the world today†as athletes prepare for more Olympic success.
