PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 5) - USSA Director of Educational Services David McCann was named president-elect of the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE) at its conference in East Lansing, Mich., earlier this summer. McCann has been USSA Educational Services Director for three years, prior to which he was the associate director of the American Sport Education Program. He will take over as NCACE president at next year's conference in Indianapolis, Ind.

REDLANDS, Calif. (July 4) - U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame member John Elvrum, who was born in Norway but held the U.S. ski jumping distance record for three years, died Tuesday of old age. Elvrum, who also owned Snow Valley Ski Area in California's San Bernardino Mountains for three decades, was 97.

Those nominated are Olympic snowboarders Hannah Teter (Belmont, VT), Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) and Gretchen Bleiler (Aspen, CO), Olympic skiers Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) and Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), plus Paralympians Steve Cook (Salt Lake City, UT) and Laurie Stephens (Wenham, MA).
